rich: Gallery is back, although it's not embedded in Drupal because I'm not sure I ever liked that anyway.
rblittle: Or is tomorrow, tomorrow, I'm confused
rblittle: It's tomorrow...
rich: shit, shitshitshit, I forgot about the gallery. I swear I will fix it tomorrow.
rblittle: I have found a loose wire - perhaps this is the reason for the gallery not working
badger: You'd have thought it would have been fixed by now.

Hmmmm. I have much experiance of the very first of the one point zero Austin Metros.
I remember the 145 65 13 remould tyres, I remember the vinyl seats especially the drivers seat which was broken and needed a cushion on top and ammo box underneath to get a good height. I even remember snapping it in two on Blandare Road. However... even this only kept it out of the war for a day.
I also remember that it would do 105mph three up with band kit in it (Would your current motor do that?) That car had done 110k when I sold it for £45 (The cost of a new tyre for the 1300cc Auto Metro I had been given) and it wasn't even tired.
They don't make them like that anymore. I think thats a big shame.
I'm afraid I have to disagree Mart
I'm afraid in my opinion, BL's efforts were never quite up to the mark. I think your rose tints must be a little strong mate! They don't make them like that any more for a reason!
I'm afraid I have to disagree Mart
Spoken like a man who wears blue oval specs. You never owned one so you might not understand. If you compare to a Fiesta of the same era the advantages were clear. The boot was far more practical, the ride was far better and it was a lot easier to work on.
Main reason I still wished they made cars like that is the simplicity, if I wanted to do something on the car I could just do it. Anything. Change the gearbox? 3 hours with no special tools. Handbrake adjust? 10 mins with a brake spanner. Fuel pump gone? Scrappy - £5 15 mins with a 7/16" 3/8" socket. Bit skint and need some fuel? Nip down and see Grandfather who would have a few gallons of Rocket fuel (Petrol/Diesel mix taken from all the cars whose owners had filled up with the wrong stuff), it would smoke a bit but it would work fine. In comparison to adjust the headlamps on my Fabia I needed a fecking laptop!
I still own a mid eighties BL car, in fact between me and my old man we now own three decrepid old BL rustbags and they are fantastic. I might even get round to putting mine back on the road one day.
I can't see many people holding much of a torch for a Mk1 Fiesta...
Hang on....
Have you ever bought a car not a Ford????
I'm afraid I have to disagree Mart
i'll bet money there's a mark i Fiesta owners club out there. If I wasn't on my phone cos NTLhave broken something crucial at their end I'd be googling their site!
Hang on!
Yes. I once bought a Swedish GM. Remember? Fast as greased weasel shit as long as you didn't want to go round any corners!
Hang on!
Forgot about the 190bhp 2 litre turbo with £30 tyres on it....
Hang on!
Sumo Racers. All 4 corners for under a one-er actually. Quality.
When combined with suspension Brunel would have frowned upon as slightly out of date it made for "interesting" roundabout shenanigans.
Hang on!
Dear lord I spend more than that on 5 litres of oil these days.
Hang on!
You spend more than £100 on 5 litres of oil?????!
Crikey...
Hang on!
Ahhh no, that was silly of me.
I spend more that £30 on 5 litres of oil.
